About Nigeria Crude Oil Merchant
A Nigerian crude oil sourcing business for qualified international buyers, built on published evidence rather than marketing claims.
What we do
Nigeria Crude Oil Merchant exists to connect genuine international buyers of crude oil — refiners, trading companies and public-sector purchasers — with lawful Nigerian supply. Our approach is to qualify buyers carefully, to work with a partner in Nigeria to seek supply from sellers entitled to sell, and to support the commercial process until principals contract with each other directly.
Alongside that commercial role we publish this website as an open reference on Nigerian crude: its grades, terminals, destination markets, export rules and the fraud patterns that surround it. We believe a buyer who understands how the market really works is a better counterparty, and that the quickest way to earn trust is to show our sources.
How we work
- Buyers first, in detail. We begin with a structured purchase requirement, not a conversation about "available cargoes". The international buyer centre explains what to prepare.
- Verification in both directions. We carry out know-your-customer checks on buyers and expect buyers to check us, using the independent tools in our verification centre.
- Lawful supply only. Nigerian crude can be sold by producers, by NNPC and by traders who have bought from them. We explain this in how Nigerian crude oil is sold.
- Contracts between principals. Transactions proceed under formal agreements, with payment through the banking system against shipping documents.
What we do not claim
Plainly, because this market is full of claims that cannot be checked:
- We do not claim to be NNPC, a crude oil producer, or the holder of an NNPC term contract.
- We do not publish stock, "allocations", price lists or discounts.
- We do not display customer logos, testimonials, transaction volumes or years of experience, because we publish only what a reader can verify.
- We never charge buyers upfront fees, and never ask for banking passwords, PINs or authentication codes.
Any specific supply we discuss with a qualified buyer is subject to confirmation by the seller, to due diligence on all sides, and to contract.
Partner-provided and publicly verified information
We keep two kinds of information strictly apart. Everything published on this website — every grade figure, market statistic, regulatory statement and fraud pattern — comes from public sources that a reader can open and check, and is cited to them. Commercial information that reaches us from our Nigerian partner or from prospective sellers, such as the availability of a particular grade, is not published here. It is treated as unverified until it has been documented and confirmed, and it is shared only with a qualified buyer, labelled as seller-provided and subject to the seller's confirmation and to the buyer's own due diligence.
Our standards for information
Every figure on this site carries its source and date, and is labelled by the kind of evidence behind it. Where sources disagree we show the disagreement; where evidence is missing we leave a gap. The details are in our sources and methodology, which also explains how to report an error.
