Privacy policy
What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.
Effective 18 September 2026. "We" means the business operating this website under the name Nigeria Crude Oil Merchant.
Information we collect
- Purchase requirements. When you submit the form we collect the business and contact information you enter — company details, the name, position, email and telephone of the representative, and your requirement — together with any documents you choose to upload.
- Correspondence. If you email us we keep the message and our reply.
- Usage counts. We count page views and page events such as "calculator used", "form started" or "arrived from a search engine" by event name, page and day. We record only the name of a referring search engine, never the search or the referring address. These counts contain no cookies, no identifiers and no IP addresses.
- Security data. To limit abuse of our forms and of the usage counter we store a one-way hash of the sender's IP address that changes daily and cannot be reversed, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers or analytics services that profile visitors. A single essential session cookie is set only when you open the purchase requirement form or the administrator login, to protect the form against forgery; it is deleted when you close your browser. Your draft answers are saved only in your own browser until you submit.
How we use information
We use submitted information to assess your requirement, to carry out know-your-customer, sanctions and anti-fraud checks, to communicate with you, and — only once you have been told and it is necessary to progress your requirement — to introduce your requirement to prospective suppliers and their advisers. Our legal bases are steps taken at your request before entering a contract, our legitimate interest in running a secure and lawful business, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that host our website and email, with professional advisers, with prospective counterparties as described above, and with authorities where the law requires. Some recipients may be outside your country, including in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the European Union; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Storage and security
Submissions are stored in a private database, and uploaded documents in private storage that is not accessible from the public web. Access is restricted to authorised personnel. Documents are not sent by email. No system is perfectly secure; please do not upload bank statements, payment credentials or personal identity documents at the enquiry stage.
Retention
We keep enquiries that do not proceed for up to 24 months, and records of transactions for as long as the law requires. You may ask us to delete your information sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent and to complain to your data-protection authority. To exercise any right, email info@nigeriacrudeoilmerchant.com.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date.
