Amenam Blend: quality and origin

Amenam Blend is a light sweet crude from the Amenam-Kpono field about 30 km offshore the eastern Niger Delta, stored and exported via a floating storage unit of more than 2.4 million barrels.4 The TotalEnergies assay of January 2021 gives 38.7° API, 0.11% sulphur, a total acid number of 0.38 and a pour point of +6 °C;1 Argus's typical value is lighter at 40.8°.3

Amenam or Odudu?

The regulator lists the stream as "Odudu (Amenam Blend)".5 Odudu is best understood as the name of the loading terminal and Amenam Blend as the grade now exported from it. Some older lists show a separate, heavier "Odudu Blend"; we have found no evidence of such a grade being marketed separately in 2025–26.

Who uses it

Kpler named Amenam among the Nigerian grades delivered to the Dangote refinery in mid-2025.6 NNPC has described the newer Utapate grade as similar in quality to Amenam, which makes Amenam a useful reference for buyers evaluating that stream.7

How published figures compare

Publishers quote different qualities for Amenam Blend because assays are run years apart on a stream whose field mix changes, and because price-reporting agencies publish rounded "typical" values. We show the figures side by side rather than silently choosing one.
